His new release is Why Poetry (Ecco Press), a call for a return to reading poetry and an incisive argument for poetry's inherent readability. In the fall of 2012, Zapruder's poetry was adapted and performed at Carnegie Hall with composition by Gabriel Kahane and Brooklyn Rider. An Associate Professor in the Saint Mary's College MFA program and English Department, he is also Editor at Large at Wave Books.
