Manikya Veena

Before moving to the United States in 2001, Manikya worked as a journalist for Magna Publishing, India’s largest publications company, and freelanced for several National newspapers and magazines. In addition, she authored a short story compilation for children, The Banjara Boys, in 2001 (CBT, India).
Once stateside, she worked as a technical writer for several prominent technology companies in Silicon Valley for over a decade. More recently, Manikya attended the P&W conference in San Francisco, a Master class workshop at the Hedgebrook, and the Bread Loaf writers conference in Sicily. She has studied with several published authors, and with Stegner fellows at classes at Stanford University. Manikya is currently a Master Workshop student at Writers Studio in San Francisco.
Manikya serves on the advisory board for Narika, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help South Asian women who are victims of domestic violence. Manikya has a master’s degree in economics and enjoys watching the occasional indie film, practicing yoga & meditation, hiking, volunteering and cooking elaborate vegetarian meals.
